Leveraging the Skyword platform, available community outreach tools, and own initiative, the Freelance manager, or as we call it internally, the Associate Community Manager identifies potential contributors* for new and existing clients, and proactively nurtures and develops Skyword’s contributor pool to foster growth, engagement, and brand advocacy. The Associate Community Manager is also responsible for supporting the development of creative materials for community growth, including newsletters, email outreach, social posts, graphics, and more. A positive customer support mentality is key as this role is one of the primary sources of information and assistance for the creative community.

Our Community Managers are brand stewards, serving as the public face and primary point of contact for the majority of the writers and creatives in our talent pool. They manage social media accounts, write regular community newsletters, respond to support requests, and collect feedback from our community so that Skyword can continuously improve. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Research, identify and vet existing contributors (in-platform) to match to new and existing clients’ needs
Research, identify and vet off-platform contributors to match to new and existing clients’ needs
Research verticals and new and existing client industries to ensure a thorough understanding of their contributor needs
Build and manage lists of potential contributors to share with relevant teams for approval before outreach
Undertake professional communication and outreach to potential contributors (in- and off-platform) to gauge interest in an opportunity, share details and ultimately invite to participate
Transition approved and accepted contributors to an Editorial Manager for onboarding and training
Vet new contributors who independently apply to the Skyword platform for quality of content, suitability to Skyword, and professionalism.
Manage and update recruitment tracking documents
Communicate to supervisor/manager client recruitment status, as well as successes and challenges
Network with contributors through social media, forums, and in-person events
Continue to develop Skyword’s diverse global network of influential contributors, particularly in verticals and languages Skyword is building
Educate contributors about the benefits of Skyword’s publishing platform and array of opportunities
Keep potential contributors that are not actively working with Skyword clients engaged so that they can be activated quickly when a good client fit arises
Respond to contributor enquiries about becoming a Skyword contributor, creating a profile, and engaging with clients
Graduation from an accredited college or university at the bachelor’s level with major coursework in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, English, recruitment, community management, or a related field
Two to three years of experience in a similar or relevant role
Experience working with global partners. Foreign language speaking and writing at a professional working level is a plus.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of outreach and community management best practices
Strong organizational and time management skills
Experience using or leveraging social media in a professional setting
Experience making and nurturing relationships within creative communities
Experience working in a creative production environment (video, design, photography) and with creative tools (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) is a plus.
